Interview Date: 5 July 2014 (Saturday) Interview Location: Bangalore Work Location: Bangalore Job Description: 1) 24x7 support for Production, Development, FQA and Staging DB environment. 2) Check archive log backups and database backups. 3) In case of any failure, send Orbitz SME an email and restart the backups. 4) Check space usage and provide space utilization report as requested by Orbitz. 5) When space utilization is above configured threshold percent, add more space and request disk space to storage engineer. 6) Check scheduled jobs for errors. These jobs are partition maintenance, analyze, space monitoring and data purge jobs. Send Orbitz SME emails with errors and return the failed jobs if possible. 7) Instance coming down and up. Monitor for VCS failing over the database. If manual intervention is required, perform the recycle. Send Orbitz RCA. 8) Check for errors in the alert logs. Send Orbitz SME detailed report on the errors. 9) Archive log space monitoring. Monitor automatic archive log backups. Monitor for archive log space and start the archive log backup if necessary. 10) Monitor server load. Provide a report on overall server load weekly. 11) Monitor for locks. If there are any locks, capture blocking and blocked session info and kill them. Send Orbitz SME the information. 12) Monitor & manage Golden Gate status through documented procedures. 13) Monitor & manage the ODS replication process through documented procedures. 14) Conduct refreshes of Staging Databases from Production. 15) Conduct refreshes of FQA2 databases from FQA1. 16) Monitor for long running transactions. If there are any long running transactions, monitor the session and send Orbitz SME the alarm. 17) Monitor for CPU and IO activities and send Orbitz SME alarm for any changes. 18) Monitor for abnormally high session counts. 19) Monitor for abnormally high latch contentions. 20) Provide bi-weekly table growth report.
