Job description: SQL Server DBA
The scope of this job is SQL Server database administration, which is responsible for the installation, testing, configuration, trouble shooting and maintenance of SQL Server 7.0, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 technologies. Additionally, resource will assist for disaster recovery (DR) designing, planning, implementation processes. Establishes and documents standards and procedures for management review. The candidate should have been able to create, implement or recommend process refinement opportunities, making the database administration support model more efficient. The candidate must also be able to recognize automation opportunities as well that will reduce the amount of hands on support. The ability to follow instructions both written and verbal is paramount as well as the ability to multi-task. Strong verbal skills are a must. Flexible work schedule is a must. Occasional travel is required.
Job responsibilities:
*Responsibility lies for configuring, managing, and reporting on all SQL Server database environments for all outsourced client environments.
*Train and mentor new database administrators on MS SQL suite of products (2000, 2005, 2008, 2008R2 and 2012) and troubleshooting techniques.
*Make recommendations to improve performance or capacity of current environments.
*Expertise on Disaster Recovery, Backup and recovery support.
*Expertise on SQL Server database migration.
*Good experience on T-SQL programming.
*Expertise in High Availability and Maintainability solutions for log shipping, Database mirroring, replication, Always ON and clustered servers.
*Experience on visual basic scripting knowledge will be an added advantage.
*Assist for on-call duties as required.
*Demonstrates an authoritative and professional manner in verbal, written and telephone communications.
*Adheres to procedures, maintains records and demonstrates commitment to solving user problems.
*Demonstrates a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving.
*Expertise on SQL Server database performance tuning and recommends tuning of systems and makes recommendations to IT management on the design and use of systems to help ensure optimum use of all hardware and operating system software resources
*Strong customer interface skills communication & ability to deliver presentation drive meetings.
*Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work effectively under high pressure and growth mode.
*Assist external customer in the definition and implementing complex integrated IT Infrastructure solutions requiring relevant products and services.
*To manage the performance of services to clients as agreed in the contract and ensure that the service levels are achieved.
*Be responsible for costing of customized solutions and ensuring implementation within budgets.
*Builds and maintains client relationship.
*Good knowledge on ITIL processes.
