Responsibilities
* Building great native iOS applications for Rakuten's hundreds of millions of users. Currently we have 80+ published applications and serving over 100 million users.
* Building and maintaining robust application frameworks using latest industry trends in the mobile technologies
* Productize components as libraries, utilities and services and promote reuse.
* Optimizing user experience on a variety of devices and screen sizes.
* Participate in across the entire app life cycle - concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support
* Working on their own independenty and as a part of the team
* Guiding and coaching team members.
* Leading a small team and owning assignments. Have sense of ownership
* Participate in design/code reviews and provide recommendations
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferably from reputed colleges like IITs/ NITs.
* 5+ year's professional experience in mobile app development.
* Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals -- object oriented design, data structures, algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
* Proficiency in Objective C
* Proficiency in iOS development Platform like iOS SDK (UIKit, Cocoa Touch, Core Data, Core Location, etc) xcode and SWIFT.
* Proficiency in web service integration (REST, JSON, XML)
* Excellent debugging, caching, memory management and optimization skills
* Proven commercial software development experience
* Excellent problem solving capability
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Better-to-have
* Experience with Agile (SCRUM, KANBAN), OO modeling, web services, UNIX.
* Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. We use GIT, Gerrit, JIRA, Confluence, TDD and CI.
* Experience mentoring and training junior engineers on complex technical issues.
* Ability to work and interact with development teams in in cross culture environment
* App development experience in the area of e-commerce & internet services
* Experience in using tools like Crashlytics, New Relic, HockeyApp
