Skills: SQL Server DBA L3.
JD:
SQL Server administration required skills
* Senior SQL Server DBA(level 3). Minimum of 10 years of SQL Server support experience in large and critical environments.
* Good knowledge of performance tuning at both server level and query level. Candidate must be knowledge of perfmon, SQL Server dynamic management views.
* Good knowledge of sql server internals
* Good knowledge of partitioning
* Good knowledge of mirroring, log shipping and replication.
* Good knowledge of scripting. Ability to write bat scripts, vb-scripts or SSIS packages..
* Good Knowledge of SQL Server Clustering
* Knowledge of Integration Services, Reporting services and Analysis services
Interpersonal required skills
* Ability to think about a problem, identify what we have and implement solutions to solve the problem independently
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to think in and out of the box.
* Must be willing to take responsibility and ownership instead of waiting to be assigned work.
* Must be willing to participate in follow the sun support for SQL and Sybase.
* The candidate must be willing to provide weekend support for SQL and Sybase, The support is rotated among DBA's in US and India.
* Must be willing to learn Sybase so they can help us support and administer Sybase.

High level - Role and responsibilities
* Work in rotational shifts, predominantly in US shifts.
* Support rotational 24x7 Oncall production support.
* SLAs and Process compliance.
* Resolve day-to-day production issues, upgrades and patches, performance analysis, disaster recovery implementation, capacity planning and other activities as necessary.
* Changes implementations during US business hours & weekends / as and when required.
* Day-to-day production support including monitoring, troubleshooting and fixing database and application issues.
* Support application developers in database related queries and performance tuning.
* Take part in client and project meetings to gather project related information.
* Own and implement preventive actions to reduce outages.
* Incidents reduction through problem management.
* Continuous improvement in proactive monitoring.
* Contribute to continuous service improvements
* Technical Documentation and SOP creation for DBA knowledge base.
* Conduct technical trainings.
* Mentor junior team members.
* Be part of reviews with client as and when necessary.
