Senior Database Administrator
Relevant Experience: 8 to 12 Years

Responsibilities:
Work with the team to:
Manage and administer large Hadoop/Cassandra clusters. Proficient Cassandra skills in supporting complex cloud Environment.
Check DB health and perform node repairs. Rebuild from standard image.
Troubleshooting of incidents independently
Administer, maintain, develop and implement best practices and procedures
Develop, implement, maintain High Availability (HA) strategy including backup and recovery procedures
Work closely with the multiple constituents including: development, solution delivery, solution support, network, security, and systems administrators to optimize the database and related components of the solution
Document all support procedures and cross-train other members of the team and/or the front line production support team
Maintain relationship with Engineering Teams and be first point of contact for technical issues
Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation providing support for database-related problems
Review, approve and apply: test patches, changes and/or modifications to relational database file definitions and schemas
Perform: installations, updates, patches and upgrades
Support Operations by helping to continuously improve quality of service
Manage database backup, restore, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
Analyse, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency while having an understanding of application level issues
Keep up to date with relevant technological developments in general
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
4+ years working with Cassandra databases in production environment
A Computer Science or related degree
Experience working on performance, scalability, and availability
Maintaining the installation and upgrade system for Cassandra and DB schema on Linux
Comfortable scripting in either Python or Shell, and should be familiar with Java and how JVM works
Experience with deployment patterns related to JVM, Hadoop, Hbase, Cassandra
Working Experience with any of the big data technologies like Hadoop, Hbase, Casandra, Dynamo.
Experience with other relational databases (MySQL or Oracle) or NoSQL (Hbase, MongoDB, Riak) would be a bonus
Should know your way around Linux. Especially the Centos flavor of Linux.
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The candidate should be accountable, self-starter, genuinely interested in all the aspects of production DBA work
Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure is essential
Ability to successfully communicate with both technical and non-technical users and co-workers
You have a professional and structured way of working
You have a passion for results; are an innovative thinker and have an open spirit
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to work independently
The candidate should possess good collaboration, communication skills and flexibility to work with a global team across time-zones
