Role Description:
This position reports into the Technology Director of the company. The incumbent must be a hands-on tech expert and able to lead the research and innovation functions of the company. This means experimenting with new technologies / platforms / tools, and studying emerging trends and capabilities to come up with implementable solutions that expand or improve the current suite of cloud and mobile apps based solutions of the company. Specific responsibilities include:
• Fully understanding the current software environment, the productive services and software in use, and dev plans and acting as a back-up for the Head of Development;
• Researching and developing solutions using new technologies (like built-in biometric capabilities in phones/desktops, geo-fencing, data curation, trust scores, etc.) to enhance or improve the current solution offerings;
• Researching relevant new online services of the Indian government and third party service providers, and designing integration solutions with them to support quicker, better, or cheaper delivery of our services;
• Developing quick PoCs/demo solutions for new features to both help in sales cycle and to act as blue-print for the main development;
• Researching and recommending alternative development tools / platforms or methods that could improve reliability, scalability or efficiency of our software;
• Actively participating in recruitment, training and mentoring of juniors in tech team.
Desired Candidate Profile:
• Quick Learner, motivated to do unstructured but practical research & dev work;
• Excellent communication skills; ability to interact and negotiate with tech teams of customers and vendors to design optimal solutions;
• 7 years hands-on design & development experience using multiple technologies;
• 2 years hands-on dev experience in Java/J2EE, Web Servers, MySQL on Linux servers;
• Expertise in System Integrations using secure and reliable services over Internet;
• Expertise in HTML5 and Mobile (Android) Apps development;
• Knowledge of Google Servers, Platform and Big Data storage, and/or other techs, is a plus.
Required skills:
• Bigdata Analytics tools and monitoring
• Devops Practices and trends (virtualization)
• Build, Deploy and Test Automation (agile)
• Micro Services implementation with REST Services
• Java backend + Android apps
• Java + Web applications
• Enterprise applications with SOAP Web Services
• Single sign on
• Lead experience of at least 5 years
• 50% of daily tasks should be development rest in analysis and management.
**Experience working in a start up will be an added advantage.
