PFB JD: We are hiring for our client: Job Title Senior Database Administrator Reports to Team Manager Overall Job Purpose Flexible to travel to UK: The Senior Database Administrator provides all database related support and administration across all business domains (ie : M&G, PruUK, GHO and Pru Poland). Main databases disciplines being Oracle & MSSQL Server (with also some knowledge of Sybase, Caché and MySql of benefit). They are also required to deputise for the Team Manager in his absence. Accountabilities/Responsibilities * Ensure proactive performance and tuning is performed for all databases * Ensure proactive alert monitoring is installed and functioning in all databases, whether it be Patrol, or the specific vendor supplied software * Continual maintenance to housekeeping and backup/restore standards and procedures and ensure they are adhered to * Act as Technical Project Manager in Road Map and TS projects * Specify and design database solutions for projects in conjunction with appropriate IT groups. * Ensure all DR documentation is up to date and available in the critical procedures folder. * Ensure databases are implemented to adhere to corporate security and technical build standards. * Develop, produce and maintain appropriate capacity planning and management reporting. * Provide DBA support to IS teams * Work on Road Map and TS projects where allocated as a resource * Respond to and resolve incident tickets * Provide 24 x 7 callout Competence / Knowledge / Skills required * Analysis and Solutions Seeking - Uses problem analysis and research to form a sound basis for decision making and judgement. * Planning and Organisation - Is well organised and able to plan for others while adaptable to fluctuating workloads. * Communication - Has sound verbal and written language skills enabling clear communication of information; actively promotes sharing of knowledge and information. * Team Work - Provides support, stimulating contribution and collaboration while building openness and trust. * Ideas Generation - Creatively seeks, develops and proposes enhancements to existing solutions. * Professionalism - Maintains high standards, has tenacity and assumes responsibility where appropriate. Database Administrator Mandatory technical skills required * Advanced level experience of Oracle v10, Oracle v11 database administration (for a minimum of 5 years). * Good experience and able to provide examples of large scale/complex systems upgrades and deployments using Oracle v10 or v11 (no timescales required, just good examples). * Good and proven experience of Oracle performance management and tuning * Good experience of UNIX/Linux and Windows Operating Systems (where the databases reside) to intermediate level (for a minimum of 5 years). * Good experience of Disaster Recovery testing (on Oracle v10 and v11 databases) and able to provide examples (for a minimum of 3 years) * Understands and is able to explain how Oracle service issues and incidents are logged with Oracle, tracked and managed to a successful and timely conclusion (for a minimum of 5 years) Desirable technical skills required * MS SQL Server 2008 and 2012 database administration skills (not essential but would be beneficial) * Oracle v12c (1 year max expected on this) Technical Certifications required if any * None essential Other Experience/Skills Required * Good written and verbal skills are essential and proven track record of communicating and working with UK organisations.
