Northrop Grumman Information Systems is seeking a skilled .NET Developer to support CDC's National Center for Preparedness, Detection, and Control of Infectious Diseases (NCPDCID), Division of Emerging Infections and Surveillance Services (DEISS). The selected candidate will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for Windows, Windows Mobile, Windows services, Web services, and Web application development for DEISS, with particular emphasis on design, development, testing, and deployment. RESPONSIBILITIES The candidate will work within a cohesive development team. Duties will include designing applications, coding, preparing documentation, interfacing with other development efforts, testing a wide variety of applications, and implementation. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following activities: Act as a subject matter expert on leveraging development capabilities. Research emerging design technologies and methodologies to fully understand intelligent applicability within CDC's environment. Provide insightful and realistic inputs to project leaders at appropriate times of the SDLC. Demonstrate enthusiasm for the customer's requirements and their timelines to effectively contribute to CDC's public health mission. Apply industry-standard best practices in innovative ways. Develop new applications as well as modify existing systems while following object oriented structures. Analyze, develop, and maintain database sources (tables, relationships, views, stored procedures, etc.). Accurately migrate legacy data into new systems. Optimize systems as necessary to ensure top performance and accuracy. Follow HHS and CDC security standards, guidelines, and best practices. Troubleshoot code performance and conduct appropriate regression testing of applications. Develop intelligent project solutions, class structures, and databases according to requirements determined by project leaders. Conduct systems and integration testing and assist with User Acceptance Testing. Support important legacy data management systems that might be in Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Access databases. REQUIREMENTS Expert programming skills (5 years or more) in the following technologies: ASP.NET, ADO.NET, Visual CE, D/HTML, XML, SQL Server 2005, Transact SQL (T-SQL), VB.NET, and C#. Competent experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Visio. Solid background in design and development of Microsoft Access database systems. Working knowledge of desktop and mobile operating systems and Web environments. Exposure to mobile software applications development. Experience with methodically performing systems and integration testing. Experience working within a formal software development process such as SDLC. Willingness and ability to take on new challenges and develop new skills. Ability to integrate in an established team and work well with technical and non-technical individuals. Share and accept diverse ideas and approaches among team members to creatively reach goals and objectives. Inspire trust and teamwork by meeting deadlines with high quality deliverables. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Microsoft certifications. Experience working within the Rational Unified Process (RUP). Understanding of the public health mission. Experience working in a government contracting environment. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS BS/BA required. Preferred emphasis in Computer Science or related field. MS/MA desired.
