Recruiting tomorrow’s research leaders

University of Nottingham
University of Nottingham
As a research-led institution, the University of Nottingham recognise the value and contribution of early career researchers in delivering our ambitious, high-quality research vision. Their insights are invaluable, and we are enhancing this vital aspect of our research network by recruiting an unprecedented number of research fellows.

Our competitive schemes attract and retain a diverse cohort of outstanding researchers, and support them to reach their research ambitions. We offer:
  • Three years' independent research funding
  • A competitive salary between £38,833 and £47,722 (Level 5 R&T) dependent on experience
  • The linking of the fellowship to a permanent academic post, subject to performance
  • Additional funding for research expenses up to £25,000 per annum
  • Additional childcare costs of up to £5,000 per annum where appropriate
  • Access to mentoring schemes and career development
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applications from all sections of the community. One of our key strengths is our rich and dynamic research ecosystem and we are committed to further enhancing this by actively supporting applicants from diverse career paths and backgrounds.

Our fellowships provide a recognised first step into an independent research career. Apply now and join one of the UK's powerhouses for transformative research.

"What drew me to Nottingham was the opportunity to do three years of independent research and then go into an academic position. I have to say that the University support is amazing."
Dr Geertje van der Heijden
Ecologist and Anne McLaren Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham

"The Nottingham Research fellowship has a great cohort programme, so there's training activities for all the research fellows. I chose to do the fellowship programme at Nottingham because it's a great place for interdisciplinary research."
Dr Gary Mirams
Nottingham Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham
