With a 1100 people team and revenues over 100 Cr, the company is continuing to grow 15% MOM and changing the landscape of Indian eyewear with its very unique services and products such as:
• Buying specs online with “Virtual Try Onâ€
• Home Eye Check up service in 7 cities with over 300+ eye check ups every day at consumer’s houses
• 60 Click & Mortar Stores pan India (including tier 2 and 3 cities) as centers for people to get their eyes checked and book orders online as well as get their post sale adjustments done
• Network of Affiliate Doctors who place orders for their consumers online on the lenskart platform
Majority of Lenskart eye-frames and prescription lenses are designed in-house and come to consumer directly from manufacturing to retail. Post a spectacle order is received, each frame is individually fitted with the respective prescription in company’s own in-house state-of-the-art (first in India) manufacturing facility, before it is dispatched. By owning the process end to end, company not only provides 1 year warranty on all products sold but also a significant 50% price benefit over any other optical chain in India.
Lenskart raised its first round of funding of 22 Cr INR from IDG Ventures India (IDGVI) in 2011. when company was selling 30 specs a day online. In 2013, when company was selling nearly 200 specs online per day, Ronnie Screwvala led Unilazer Ventures, along with IDG again, invested around INR 53 crores in the company. Today Lenskart is making nearly 2000 specs a day shipped pan India and has so far shipped over 10 Lac specs across the country. Company has recently raised Private equity investment from TPG Growth of 22 million USD to fulfill its vision to be India’s Number One eyewear provider by 2016.

Position Summary
The incumbent shall be responsible for leading and supervising a team of engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems. Should be completely hands on with excellent architecture and design skills. Shall be responsible for establishing the company’s technical vision and leading all aspects of technology development in accordance with the company’s strategic direction and growth objectives. This requires envisioning the company’s current and future technology requirements for order fulfillment, warehouse management, inventory management, analytics etc., leading implementation of such applications, and planning for risk and growth.
Key Relationships
Reports to : VP â€" Engineering
Direct reports: Managing a team of 10 -12 people.
Major Responsibilities:-
The role will have the following key responsibilities:
• Architecture, design and development of high performance software applications and software platforms
• Identifying technology trends implement and execute cutting edge technology to create a high scalable and high performance platform.
• Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all web-based services.
• Shall be responsible for redesigning existing systems.
• Conduct code reviews and specification conformance testing as defined by the selected software development methodology.
• Building, developing and grooming of engineering talent and teams.
• Responsible for product development, website platform evolution and scaling, and engineering support.
• Using data and building analytic models to improve standards, processes, and policies for corporate wide infrastructure and service operations.
• Come up with innovative solutions to scale the system.
Person’s Specifications:
• Ideal candidate should have 8-12 years industry experience and atleast 1 year experience in people management.
• Educational Specifications : B.E/B.Tech or MCA(IITs)
Technical Skills-
• Must have strong experience in Object Oriented Technologies (php,Java)
• Very strong experience in NoSQL (Mongo DB,Redis) etc.
• Experience in creating distributed and highly available applications.
• Experience in designing and optimizing highly scalable server side applications, experience in Magento is desirable.
• Experience in designing SOA based applications.
• Experience in various protocols like SOAP, REST etc.
• Must have experience with database-driven web technologies to work on high volume, high- availability, large-scale public facing websites.
• Familiar with more than one software development methodology.
