Based in Scotland's historic and culturally rich capital city, the Professor in Forensic Psychology will have the opportunity and support to become a pioneer in their chosen field, working for a University with an exciting strategy, ambitious for its staff and students. In recent years psychology has benefited from capital investment including: DI4D Pro System (with three pods) for markerless high fidelity facial motion capture in both black and white and colour; and SMI iViewX RED Eyetracker.

Forensic Psychology is an area identified for expansion in our Strategy 2020 and we are seeking a professor to lead research, postgraduate programme development and future staff recruitment in this area. As Professor of Forensic Psychology you will provide strategic leadership as a member of the School's Leadership Team, and directly lead a team of senior lecturers and their teams in the area of Psychology and Social Sciences. As principal investigator, you will be responsible for securing and leading both individual and collaborative research projects, aiming to enhance the research profile of Psychology and demonstrate a major research contribution through the production of high quality 3/4* research outputs. An important part of you role will be to provide leadership and direction relating to REF.

You will be enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary and collaborative working, and ambitious about forging links across the wider School and University. You will have excellent communication skills and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, engage, and inspire others. You will also have experience of mentoring academic staff and leading a team. In addition to a doctoral qualification in forensic psychology, our ideal candidate will have (or be close to achieving) BPS Chartered Forensic Psychologist status and HCPC Practitioner and/or Registered Forensic Psychologist status. A track record of excellence and leadership in teaching is also desirable as demonstrated by Senior Fellowship of the HEA.
