Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
* Monitor production systems, resolve issues proactively, escalating to senior engineers, if needed.
* Support production and other environments consisting of SQL 2000-2008, 2014 and Windows Server 2000-2008, 2012.
* Install, administer, and update Windows and SQL 2000-2008 servers.
* Trouble shoot and resolve performance related issues for SQL 2000-2008 servers.
* Configure and maintain replication, log shipping and MS cluster.
Secondary Functions:
* Continuous learning of system administration topics.
* Function as a liaison between Hosting Operations and other teams within the company, which may include direct or indirect contact with our customers.
* Any and all additional job duties as defined by Hosting management.
Qualifications:
Graduate in Computer Science. MCA/ Regular PG course in Computers added advantage. Min. 8 years related work experience. 8+ years in Microsoft SQL SERVER administration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Installation / configuration/ maintenance and Administration of SQL SERVR 2000-2008, 2012 and 2014. 2. Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation (Mirroring, Replication, log shipping, MS Cluster...) 3. Good knowledge of Transactional SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Monitoring tools and Performance monitoring. 4. Knowledge of Planning and implementing backup policies. 5. Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security. 6. Knowledge of hosting/SaaS environments, Network Operations Center protocol, focusing on systems performance and high availability. 7. Knowledge of server hardware systems and Operating system. 8. Knowledge and experience in qualifying, staging and deploying of specialized software pieces into a complex production hosting center.
Knowledge of the following technology areas:
1. Installation, Administration and configuration of Windows servers. 2. Knowledge of Active Directory (user, Groups, computer management and Group Policy). 3. Disaster Recovery Planning.
Good to Have:
1. Scripting knowledge (WS script, power shell, Dos and Batch scripts) . 2. Exposure to ORACLE RDBMS. 3. Backup and recovery tools. 4. Exposure to ITIL tools.
