Job Description for MS SQL DBA
Description:
The job includes working with the various technology teams, vendors, and management of new hardware and operating systems infrastructure.
The Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration and implementation of complex systems for multiple projects.
Qualifications and Experience required:
University Degree in Information Systems or Engineering and demonstrated experience in the field of Information Technology.
MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012
MS Windows 2000/2003/2005/2008
Knowledge of windows clustering is mandatory
Knowledge of SAN technologies is mandatory
MCP / MCDBA Certification is mandatory.
Knowledge of PL/SQL mandatory
Knowledge of ITIL processes mandatory
Certification in ITIL is mandatory
Knowledge of Oracle OEM Grid control is desirable.
Knowledge of Golden Gate replication is desirable.
Knowledge of other RDBMS like MySQL, Sybase, Oracle, desired.
Technical skills required:
Substantive (8-12 years) relevant experience providing MS SQL database administration services on various hardware like XP 512, EVA and EMC Disk Arrays - require comprehensive knowledge, along with extensive and varied experience in these technical areas:
· Comprehensive knowledge of MS SQL Server /2000/2005/2008 with exposure to 24*7 Production support required.
· Expertise in Installation, software upgrades, applying patches and service packs is must.
· Excellent working knowledge of Windows XP/2000/Vista/2003 operating environments.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills is a must.
· Expertise in DB Cloning, data migration and DTS/SSIS.
· Expertise in database and SQL Server crash Recovery.
· Expertise in performance tuning required.
· Ability to formulate overall strategies and support development effort in areas of major difficulties and organizational complexity.
· Expertise in Log shipping and configuring Standby Databases required.
· Expertise in SQL Server Replication and DB Mirroring required.
· Expertise of supporting SQL Server on Cluster environment required.
· Knowledge of network and firewall concepts and architectures.
Secondary skills required:
· Proven experience in Database Technologies and able to Architect / Design / implement a DB solution which meet client requirement of High Availability, Performance and Reliability.
· Plan and execute technical program including developing, validating, executing, and delegating project technical processes and procedures. Serve as escalation point for technical project issues.
· Apply best practices, strategies, methodologies and approaches to large scale projects.
· Ability to formulate overall strategies and support development effort in areas of major difficulties and organizational complexity.
· Thorough knowledge of business application, strategic business and I.T. strategic direction and technology disciplines.
· Ability to deal with conflicting deadlines on a regular basis when managing work packages associated with projects and Ability to deal with complex technical issues.
· Good communications skills and ability to make formal presentations/
· Excellent Knowledge of ITIL process - Incident Management, Change Management
· Ability to preempt escalations and take measures
· Recognized Leadership/Management skills for working in a stressful environment.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, Strong leadership and motivating skills
· Directly interact with cross-functional teams and solution architects to identify, develop, and obtain complete information for solutions.
· Achieve high level of Customer Satisfaction on all consulting engagements.
