Project Overview (UIDAI Aadhaar)
In India, an inability to prove identity is one of the biggest barriers preventing the poor from accessing benefits and subsidies. Public as well as private sector agencies across the country typically require proof of identity before providing individuals with services. But till date, there remains no nationally accepted, verified identity number that both residents and agencies can use with ease and confidence.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was established in January 2009, as an attached office to the Planning Commission. The purpose of the UIDAI is to issue a unique identification number (UID) to all Indian residents that is (a) robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, and (b) can be verified and authenticated in an easy, cost-effective way.
The UIDAI, as a statutory body, will be responsible for creating, administering and enforcing policy. The UIDAI will prescribe guidelines on the biometric technology, the various processes around enrolment, and verification procedures to be followed to enrol into the UID system. The UIDAI will also design and create the institutional microstructure to effectively implement the policy. This will include a Central ID Data Repository (CIDR), which will manage the central system, and a network of Registrars who will establish resident touch points through Enrolling Agencies.

Job Description:
Should have thorough knowledge of Linux, middleware, high performance messaging,
Java/J2EE, C, ISO standards for biometrics and other technologies needed for server integration
Should have over 7 years of experience in software project/product integration
Should preferably have at least four years' experience in software integration of biometric applications
Should preferably have been a lead integration engineer for a large scale biometric project
Should have advanced degrees in engineering/computer sciences/information technology
