Job Description

.                                                     Oracle Database Administrator

·          GoldenGate configuration: Configure golden gate, for new and existing end-to-end setup. And handle various golden gate operation issues.

 

·         Oracle Standby/Data Guard: Creation, configuration and maintenance of physical standby databases. Perform failover/switchover on-need basis.

 

·         Oracle Grid setup: Installation and configuration of GRID and ASM for 2-3 node RAC databases.

 

·         Upgrade: Through both production and pre-production upgrade of application schema's include gathering space requirements,scripts preparation for supplements, database schema creation, access management, object rebuilding, preparing data dumps.

 

·         Managing preproduction setup: Creating new and upgrading existing, pre prod environments spanning across different areas -- Dev, FQC, End to End, small, medium and large performance labs, Training environments.Co-ordinating with tech support teams to gather requirements for new setup and capacity expansion of existing one.

 

·         Backup and recovery: Perform RMAN backup and keep system prepared for restore and recovery if required.

 

·         Handling Work Requests: Handling work requests raised by various support team for any database related issues and provide resolution or coordinate with other teams as per SLA.

 

·         Change Management: Raising, preparing sripts and implementing scheduled or emergency CRs for database or object level changes.

 

·         System Migration:  Migration of pre-production and production databases to a different DC with larger operational capacity.Databases for various telegence mobility, BDebill(Inter-change Billing), switch and FBF applications migrated to new site handling end to end setup and application connectivity.

 

·         Data copy tools: Creating datapump and copy command based tools that can be used to tech support team to copy table data from one environment to other.Handling any issues and modifying tool code for permanent fix.

 

·         Analysis: Gathering client requirements and analyzing their feasibility. Working closely with solution architects to Design,Implement and support a new architecture as per client requirement.

 

·         Installation: Installation and configuration of Oracle Server/Client and creation of databases on HP Itanium/PA-RISC, SunOs servers.

 

·         Database Administration: Administration and tuning Telegence Databases, tablespace management and implementation of Adhoc client requirements like applying patches to application environment for major or minor releases., Creating database wallets and managing encryption at table and tablespace level. Managing and backing up wallet files.

 

·         Scripting : Developing Unix shell and PL/SQL scripts, for database/schema migration and other routine activities like database monitoring and tracking, configuring database and file systems alerts and crontab scheduling.

 

·         Database Storage and security Administration: Taking care of storage configuration on server. Database design and implementation whenever there is capacity expansion. Establishment of security policies for access to the system and ensuring round the clock database availability.

 

·         Schema Backup : Configuring and managing logical backups of application schema with datapump.

 

·         Database Restore and recovery : Restore and recover databases for migration and in case of any failure,check backup sanity and undo any human error.

 

·         Coordination : Coordinate with external agencies, whenever required. regarding resolution of any issues with databases or OS.
