Overview:
Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and Internet-of-things (IOT) are among the important current tech trends. SDN is making networks programmable - enables network dynamic management and reconfiguration. With SDN, the introduction of new features becomes less manual, less prone to error, and faster to implement. NFV is about using "software based" devices using standard hardware in place of purpose-built or dedicated hardware. NFV and SDN are complementary technologies. IOT, driven by cloud technology, data analytics, and increasing number of connected things, provides opportunities for identifying and creating new services, enhancing productivity and efficiency, improving real-time decision making, solving critical problems, and developing new and innovative user experiences. This workshop aims to give an excellent overview of the above tech trends and provide pointers for further study/work.
