Not sure if the timing or location is right but we have a 3 month contract in Vernon Hills, IL area for Associate Systems Engineer
Job Description:
The Associate System Engineer assists in the management, design, implementation and optimization of CDW's server and application infrastructure. This role applies systems knowledge and skills to support a secure, fault tolerant, scalable, and flexible server infrastructure for CDW's operations. The Associate Engineer also supports and troubleshoots server and application problems, and coordinates implementations with CDW staff and vendor personnel.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Support, install, and maintain servers and related software.
• Coordinate with vendors repair outages.
• Ensure proper patch levels on server hardware and software.
• Monitor servers for failures and performance problems.
• Assist in maintaining technical architecture documentation for CDW's server infrastructure.
• Assist in the management of Active Directory, Name Resolution, Distributed File System Namespace (DFSN), File/Print Servers and Windows OS family.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with IT Help Desk to communicate issue status and respond to questions.
• Support security policies, practices, and guidelines for the server infrastructure.
• Test and install new software versions as required using CDW best practices.
• Work off hours and weekends as dictated by the business
• Lift up to 60 pounds with or without assistance on occasion.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years IT systems related experience.
Other Required Qualifications:
• Support, install and maintain servers and related software for all branch offices.
• Participate in business continuity planning for infrastructure.
• Respond to and resolve support cases generated in CDW's support ticketing system (Remedy).
• Basic understanding of the appropriate operating systems and physical hardware.
• History of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
• Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical certifications associated to the chosen technological track.
• ITIL
• A+ or Network+ Certification
