Designs the functions and processes to run on software that allows otherwise independent applications to communicate with each other and is built using a collection of standards and specifications, using protocols to describe an operation to execute or data to exchange with other Web Services. A group of Web services interacting together defines a particular Web service application in Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).
