Required Professional and Technical Expertise
• 8 -12 years of proven experience in applying the Web/J2EE architecture principles in delivering quality solutions for key business requirements that meet resource, budget and time constraints.
• Expertise in translating user requirements to system specifications and formulate system design using UML artifacts would be a plus. Must have involved in the end-to-end life cycle of application development from inception (requirements) to realization (deployment).
• Expertise in leading/developing enterprise applications that interact with multiple sub-systems/other applications with focus on usability, scalability, performance.
• Applied knowledge on defining application security that includes authentication and role based authorization to give controlled access to the users.
• Must possess the ability to quickly study existing systems and propose new solutions. Expertise in understanding / defining APIs to interact with other systems would be a plus.
• Must have Solid understanding of frameworks such as Spring, Struts and applying the same in developing solutions.
• Must have solid understanding of design patters and adapted best practices in applying the same in solution design.
• Hands on experience using J2EE/Java technologies would be a plus.
• Must have worked on databases such as DB2, Oracle that involve large volume of data. Expertise in performance tuning (of application and the database) would be a plus. Expertise on interacting with databases using technologies such as Spring-JDBC, JPA would be a plus.
• Must be familiar with web / application servers and configuring / tuning the same such as WebSphere, WebLogic. Skills on application deployments on servers/cloud would be a plus.
• Must be familiar with various development methodologies, Agile would be a plus.

This role designs applications required to automate business processes and meet business needs. The resulting design may run on multiple platforms and may be composed of multiple software packages and custom components. This role defines best practices in the critical evaluation and selection and / or development of the software components and hardware requirements of the applications and data, and the development of the application, including evaluation and selection of development methods, development processes, best practices and tools. Responsible for applications-related quality, performance, availability, scalability, and integrity. Also responsible for the functional interface to applications and for ensuring application usability. The employee focuses on individual/team/department/ operational objectives.

Provides advice in technical/operational domain of specialization. Generally controls own work priorities and methods requiring tradeoffs.
Impact on Business/Scope:
Accountable for individual or team, or department results, and for the impact of the results on functional activities. Participates in overall departmental program planning. May have budgetary responsibility. Contributes by supporting activities that are subject to business measurements, impact customer satisfaction, or impact immediate costs or expenses.
